Redevelopment of market building

The development objectives are primarily to redevelopment the market building to enhance its commercial viability as well as improve the architectural merits of this site.

The proposed scheme optimises use of the application site, while respecting and even enhancing its context. It improves on the scale and height of the existing buildings on the site and reinforces the local historical characteristics of the area. Whilst improving the commercial use of the site. Through its vertical and horizontal articulation, the proposed building responds to surrounding historical rhythms, while its dynamism interacts with the energy of street activity and adds energy and lightness to the shopping centre. Finally, its architecture compliments and highlights the adjacent commercial buildings as well as the bridge cottage, adding interest and variety to the Area.
