Home House

Portman Square, London

Conversion of Grade I listed townhouse

Brooks Murray were appointed to carry out the initial feasibility study and concept design proposals for the conversion of the James Wyatt and Robert Adam Grade I listed townhouse in Portman Square. Formerly the home of the Courtauld Collection before being relocated to Somerset House, 20 and 21 Portman Square were vacant properties in the mid 1990's.

The brief was to find an alternative use which would not damage the fabric of the building . Our solution was to sensitively integrate club and conference rooms, sports bar, restaurant, terraced garden, 26 bedroom suites and health spa including a gymnasium, splash pool, sauna, steam and treatment rooms within the Listed structure.

Working with Brian Clivaz, MPA and Harry Neal our proposals were approved in 1996 and have now largely been implemented.
