Racksmere
Racksmere is a 16th century house set in the Chiltern countryside.
Brooks Murray were commissioned to restore the existing building (whose original footprint was built on and enlarged over the past four hundred years).
Part of these works include building a central staircase and rear cloister linking all rooms. We designed the staircase as full-height, and glazed, to bring more light into the building. Nestled in the elbow of the l-shaped building, this became central and better linked the different parts (and phases) of the house.
