Studio Directors and founders’ Gavin Murray and Stephanie Brooks, originally met working for practice Andrews Downie & Partners Shortly after working on project Brocket Hall together they began a separate practice.

They landed their first job in 1993 after accepting the prestigious job of the refurbishment of the Venice Biennale British Pavilion. After this they accepted a 2 million pound job with Deutchebank. At the time they accepted the Deutchebank  job with limited staff, computers or any knowledge of AutoCAD. They were practicing at a time where everyone was still using commonly using traditional design methods. The next day they began to hire staff, hired computers and immediately trained themselves with the necessary software to successfully and efficiently deliver the project. It was from this project that the office grew into the established firm today. It is this very ‘can do’ no matter what the problem, solving attitude, employed by all members of staff, that is still the key driving force of the practice today. Stephanie and Gavin continue to take both a managerial and very hands on project attitude with the day to day running of the practice.

Brooks Murray have a wide range of skills from designing and building towns to difficult inner city conservation and development projects. Staff have the opportunity to work on various projects at various stages in order to keep a wide spectrum of interest amongst employees. The practice has grown and developed over the years both in size and architectural skill. We use a combination of Revit and hand drawn skill to deliver a quality balance of respect for tradition with technological efficiency. The design team is made up of an intelligent workforce with varying skill strengths that graft together to deliver quality projects to happy clients.
