The Hoo

The Hoo is a Grade II* listed building set within 175 acres of Capability Brown-design estate land in Great Gaddesden, Hertfordshire.

In 2017, Brooks Murray were commissioned to restore the main House and repurpose it for the twenty-first century. We worked closely with the private client to reinstate the orignal H-building plan, repurpose the once-agricultural outbuildings, restore estate paths and thoroughfares. This demanded a careful demolition of the 1940s wing, an extremely intricate weaving of contemporary services through the historic fabric of the building, and the installation of interwoven sustainable initiatives and rewilding across the estate.
