Brooks Murray were asked to design a scheme to restore a series of derelict farm buildings and bring them into contemporary use.

Location

Suttons Farm, St. Albans, Hertfordshire

Client Name

Osprey London

The client, Osprey London, make high-end leather bags. They sought a hand-crafted solution to reflect the calibre of their own products. The The interior and exterior design accordingly focussed on high quality natural materials and traditional building techniques.

Since the original buildings were built predominantly from clunch, restoring and protecting the walls was necessary to preserve the heritage environment over the long term.

The restored buildings have been brought into productive use, as the headquarters of Spanish sherry distributors Gonzalez Byass, and an Osprey London shop.

As part of this restoration,  the team also converted the award-winning Dutch Barn.
